Picture Perfect
DESCRIPTION

Catalogue photographer Kristine Sawyer had learned a lot of hard lessons rising through the ranks, the first and foremost being that beautiful men were never trustworthy men. Of course, life has a funny way of not letting "never" mean "never." When the first model who broke her heart comes back to reclaim it, she has a hard time believing the underdeveloped roll of film that is her life might actually turn into the perfect picture.

Paul Davies never meant to break Kristine’s heart almost a decade ago. But when you get "the call," you go, and you sort out life later.

Only "later" is "now". . .

EXCERPT

After ten years as a catalogue photographer, Kristine Sawyer had one piece of advice: beautiful men could not be trusted.

“Kris, did you hear me? They got Paul back for the anniversary edition. He said yes.”

Her assistant Pamela’s voice barely registered even though the digital network got the message through loud and clear. “I heard you. This has to be a joke or something. Paul won’t even look at a script unless there’s twenty million dollars on the table, yet they got him to come do a catalogue shoot?”

“The guilt trip must have worked. He does owe them a lot. Them and you.”

After a long pause, Kristine finally replied, “That’s ancient history. Thanks for the warning. I have some things to do for Lisa. I gotta go now.” The second Pamela started to say good-bye, Kris snapped the phone closed and put it on the counter.

No, beautiful men could not be trusted, especially ones named Paul Davies.

She walked into her office and straight to the front of her desk. Normally she ignored the blown-up shots of her most noteworthy covers, especially the one hanging directly behind her desk. She stopped in front of it now. It wasn’t a shot she took, but she’d been the first assistant, and it had been the first time she’d ever worked with Paul.

His light brown hair shone so brightly in the sun it looked blond. His hazel eyes sparkled in bright contrast to the red and black checkered flannel shirt. His bemused expression hinted at some secret that summoned you to the pages inside, inviting you to join this rugged, sexy lumberjack on a private journey through his forest paradise.

The light loved him. The camera loved him. And after four months of working together off and on, she had loved him.

The catalogue and print ads led to television commercials and before long, to even more.

“I have to do this,” he explained when Hollywood summoned. “It’s the break I’ve been waiting for. When I’m in L.A. and settled, you can join me. I’ll call you.”

Only that call never came. He never settled. And a week from now Paul Davies would be back on her set.
