Once upon a time in the rolling hills of Middle Tennessee, I was a little girl, a little girl with a BIG imagination and no access to cable t.v. or the Internet. 

I don't know about other writers out there, but I got my start writing because of two things:  1)  The Thundercats, and 2) Susan Elizabeth Phillips (no, that's not your imagination, the Sesame Street tune "One of These Things is not Like the Other" did just start playing!)

I loved watching The Thundercats, and of course, girl-power chica that I am, Cheetarah was my fave.  She never got her own adventures, though.  The stories always seemed to be about that whineypants Lion-O, so I used to write my own stories, starring Cheetarah, to amuse myself.

Fast forward to adulthood.  The Thundercats isn't on anymore, and I graduated to the "real" world of dating and all the humor, heaven, and heartache that comes with it.

Then a girlfriend gave me a copy of Nobody's Baby but Mine by Susan Elizabeth Phillips to read, swearing it was one of the most fun books she'd ever laid her hands on. 

She was right.  I stayed up all night and read it in one sitting.  I've never done that before.  I laughed out loud.  I'd never done that (with a book) before, either! 

It was funny and smart and entertaining, and I remember putting it down and thinking, "Now that is the way I want to tell a story." 

So I decided to get an education in this business (courtesy of Seton Hill University) and set out to write my own version of funny, smart, entertaining stories. 

Then in the winter of 2005, two near and dear friends and fellow authors (Natalie Damschroder and Megan Hart) dared me to do something different with my writing.  They dared me to spice it up and enter the Amber Heat contest at Amber Quill Press.  My wacky take on the modern dating world won and snagged me a two-year publishing contract.
